Frequently asked

The most important answers.

  • Yes. Through our site you mainly book the quiet season from autumn to spring, when southern Norway is at its most still and most authentic. In the summer months our three homes near Ramsland and Lista are partly committed to our partner Come2Norway. Individual open dates still appear in the calendar, and what shows as free can be booked direct. Odrelia, our new home, will be fully bookable year-round without restriction from spring 2027.

  • Our three existing homes are partly committed long-term during peak season. If your dates show as booked, they really are. It is worth being flexible. Spring and autumn offer the best choice and often the most singular moments, because you have nature almost to yourself.

  • Choose your dates in the availability calendar, enter the number of guests and book directly. Confirmation comes by email. No detour via a third-party platform.

  • For direct bookings via our website, you can cancel free of charge up to 60 days before arrival. Up to 30 days before arrival we refund 80% of the rental price, up to 14 days before arrival 50%. For later cancellations or no-shows, no refund is possible. We recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance. For bookings via platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com or Come2Norway, the conditions stored there apply.

  • You pay securely by credit card or by invoice and bank transfer. For direct bookings, the full rental price is due before arrival. Any deposit is refunded after departure once the house and boat have been checked.

  • Final cleaning, bed linen and towels are included, along with Wi-Fi and a free parking spot at the house. Energy costs are either included in the price or charged by consumption, depending on the home. The exact details for your home are shown during the booking process.

  • Maritim 2, Ramsland 8a and Ramsland 2d each come with a private motorboat from spring to autumn, included in the rental price. With it you explore the coast, head out to the offshore skerries or go fishing. Odrelia has no boat of its own, but kayaks and SUPs are provided.

  • It depends on your year of birth. If you were born before 1 January 1980, you may drive our boats under Norwegian law without a licence. If you were born in 1980 or later, boats with more than 25 hp require a boating qualification; certificates from EEA countries, such as the German SBF See, are recognised in Norway, so simply bring the original. The skipper must be at least 16 years old, and life jackets must be worn while under way in boats under 8 metres. If you're unsure, just ask us when booking.

  • No. Saltwater fishing in Norway is free and requires no licence, including for guests from abroad. Hand tackle such as rod or handline is allowed, you may not sell your catch, and please keep at least 100 metres away from fish farms. Mind the minimum sizes, 40 cm for cod. Only lakes and rivers require a local fishing permit (fiskekort), and salmon fishing in rivers additionally requires the state fishing fee.

  • Yes. We are registered with the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries as a tourist fishing business. That means you may currently export up to 15 kg of fish or fish products per person, at most twice per calendar year (from 2027 the quota drops to 10 kg). The quota applies from age 12 and must be carried personally. Just let us know during your stay, we take care of the required catch reporting and issue the export documentation you need.

  • There's hardly a bad one. In high summer, roughly from mid-July into September, large schools of mackerel come right up to the coast, ideal for families and quick wins. Pollack and saithe bite from spring to autumn, and if you're targeting cod, spring or late summer onwards works best. Good to know: between January and April, cod fishing bans apply in certain spawning areas along the Skagerrak coast, mostly east of our waters. You'll find the current zones at fiskeridir.no, and please release cod under the minimum size of 40 cm.

  • Dogs are warmly welcome at Maritim 2, Ramsland 8a and Ramsland 2d, for a small fee that varies by home. Dogs are not allowed at Odrelia.

  • By car, the easiest route is the ferry from Hirtshals to Kristiansand. Two operators serve the route: Fjord Line (fast ferry, around 2.5 hours) and Color Line (a good 3 hours), with several departures a day between them. Prices are strongly demand-driven, so booking early pays off, especially for July and August. From Kristiansand it is roughly an hour's drive depending on the home. Flying, you land at Kristiansand Airport (KRS) and continue from there. A car on the ground is recommended so you can explore the region freely.

  • There is a fixed local contact for you, reachable by phone and message, for tips, questions or the rare case where something is not right. Check-in is contactless, so even a late arrival is no problem.

  • It depends on the home. Maritim 2 sleeps up to 9 guests, with a cot also possible. Ramsland 8a sleeps up to 8 guests, Ramsland 2d up to 6. Odrelia will sleep up to 6 guests from spring 2027. The exact occupancy is shown for each home in the overview.

  • Prices vary by home and season. What applies to your dates is shown directly in the availability calendar.
